Cows which are fed KWS Feedbeet deliver better quality milk. Farmers often report 0.2-0.5% higher milk fat levels in the weeks following the introduction of fresh beet into the ration. This was also confirmed by KWS trials with ensiled beet which found similar improvements in milk fat levels and an improvement of 0.1% in milk protein.

Sweets are preferred by ruminants

It is widely recognised that cows have a preference for sweet tasting feedstuffs and successive trials indicate that feeding beet can improve ration palatability. Consequently, sweeter tasting rations can promote higher dry matter intakes, greater milk production and daily live weight gains.

Feedbeet in the ration

When introducing KWS Feedbeet to the ration, pelase take care of the following:

  • Allow a transition period of 10-14 days, gradually increasing proportion of beet in the ration.
  • Chop beet in to 3-5 cm lengths to avoid selection preferences and assist digestion.
  • Use clean and undamaged beet where possible.
  • Ensure crude protein and fibre requirements are being met.
  • Feeding up to 4 kg DM per day for dairy cows is possible. Beef animals can be fed more if desired.
